Shrub 0.2–0.7 m high, softly greyish-pilose on stems, leaves and flowers, sometimes becoming glabrous. Leaves: lamina obovate, 12–20 mm long, 7–12 mm wide, cuneate at base, entire margin, emarginate and apiculate at apex, sparsely pubescent above, densely pilose below; petiole 2–4 mm long; stipules broadly triangular, 3–5.5 mm long, ± persistent. Inflorescence 3–6 (–10)-flowered, bracts 0.2–0.8 mm long. Flowers white, becoming red or pink in fruit; pedicel 3–6 mm long (enlarging to 7–12 mm in fruit). Hypanthium tube 1.5–2 (–3) mm long, 1.5–2.3 mm in diam., densely pilose at base, sparsely so above. Sepals 1.5–2 mm long, moderately to densely hairy. Petals 1–1.2 mm long (excluding adnate base); claw adnate to base of stamen filament for 0.2–0.3 mm. Stamens 0.8–1.1 mm long (excluding adnate base). Ovary roof densely pubescent. Style 1.6–2.5 mm long. Fruit obovoid, 2.3–3 mm long, torus in the upper third. Seeds orange-brown, 2.3–2.4 mm long, c. 0.7 mm long, clear-translucent.
Grows on hills, outcrops and rocky gullies, usually in laterite on granite, but also recorded from sandstone.
