Characteristics

Herbs, perennial, 40-50 cm tall, densely gray tomentose, later partly glabrescent. Lowermost leaves: petiole 1-1.5 cm; leaf blade oblong, densely tomentose, 2-pinnatisect; segments 3 or 4 pairs; lobules narrowly linear, (3-)6-9(-12) × 0.5-1(-1.5) mm, acute apically. Middle stem and upper leaves pinnatisect; leaflike bracts linear. Capitula in broad pyramidal paniculate synflorescences. Involucre ovoid-ellipsoid, 2-2.5 mm; phyllaries pubescent. Florets 5-6. Achenes ovoid or obovoid. Fl. and fr. Aug-Oct.
