Characteristics

A prostrate shrub 0.1 m tall, 0.5 m across, with red, creeping stems. Leaves pointing vertically from a horizontal stem, 50-120 mm long, 10-15 mm wide, hairless, dissected, with 3 or 4 tips; stalk 15-30 mm long. Flowerhead 20-25 mm long, 25-35 mm across, flat-topped, 1-16 per branch, comprising 3-6 headlets of 4-10 flowers each, with a sweet scent; flowerhead stalk 10-50 mm long, hairless. Involucral bracts absent. Perianth dark carmine, with short, adpressed, silver hairs. Style straight, 12-14 mm long. Pollen presenter 3 mm long, linear, tip pointed, knee-bent at base. Flowers: July to October.
