Serruria gremialis Rourke

A sprawling shrub with creeping stems and a root-stock, 0.5 m tall, up to 1 m across. Leaves pointing vertically from a horizontal stem, 10-30 mm long, 10-25 mm wide, with crispy hairs when young, dissected, with 30-45 tips with pointed calluses; stalk 2-12 mm long. Flowerhead globose, 25-30 mm across, hairless, 1-4 per branch, comprising a solitary headlet of 15-25 flowers; flowerhead stalk 25-30 mm long. Involucral bracts ovate, sharply pointed, densely covered with velvety hairs. Perianth with adpressed long, silver, silky hairs. Style hairy in lower third, curving inward, 12-15 mm long. Pollen presenter cylindrical, club-shaped. Flowers: July to February.
