Characteristics

A multi-stemmed, erect shrub with a rootstock, 0.4-0.8 m tall, 0.5 m across. Leaves erect, 25-60 mm long 1-6 mm wide, hairless when mature, needle-like or dissected, with 1-3 tips; stalk 20-40 mm long. Flowerhead globose, 20-30 mm long, 15-32 mm across, 1-4 per branch, comprising a solitary headlet of 15-20 flowers; flowerhead stalk 15-30 mm long. Involucral bracts ovate, hairless. Perianth pink, with long, spreading, silver, silky hairs. Style straight, 6-9 mm long, red, hairless. Pollen presenter 2 mm long, club-shaped, knee-bent at base. Flowers: August to November.
