Characteristics

An erect shrub 0.4-1 m tall, 0.3 m across. Main stem 10 mm in diameter. Leaves erect, 25-60 mm long, 10-30 mm wide, hairless, dissected, with 20-30 sharp to rounded tips; stalk 15-20 mm long. Flowerhead globose, 15-20 mm across, 1-4 per branch, comprising a solitary headlet of 15-30 flowers; flowerhead stalk 15-25 mm long. Involucral bracts numerous, prominent, 6-8 mm long, linear to lanceolate, cream to orange; inner series with sparse, short hairs. Perianth carmine, with long, spreading, white, silky hairs. Style straight, 10 mm long. Pollen presenter 1 mm long, club-shaped. Flowers: August to November.
