Characteristics

A prostrate shrub with creeping stems and a rootstock, 0.05-0.1 m tall, up to 1 m across. Leaves pointing vertically from a horizontal stem, 15-30 mm long, 10-15 mm wide, hairless when mature, dissected, with 7-10 tips with fine points; stalk 5-15 mm long. Flowerhead globose, 15-25 mm across, 1 or 2 per branch, comprising a solitary headlet of 25-40 flowers, with a strong sweet scent; flowerhead stalk 10-25 mm long, with long hairs. Involucral bracts lanceolate, hairless, purple-pink. Perianth slender, pink to red, with short, adpressed, silver hairs. Style straight, 11 mm long, hairless. Pollen presenter 1 mm long, club-shaped. Flowers: July to October.
