Characteristics

A prostrate shrub with creeping stems, 0.05-0.2 m tall, up to 1 m across. Main stem 20 mm in diameter. Leaves pointing vertically from a horizontal stem, 50-80 mm long, 10-30 mm wide, hairless, dissected, with 6-15 tips with fine points; stalk 20-50 mm long. Flowerhead globose, 30-35 mm across, 1-9 per branch, comprising a solitary headlet of 25-50 flowers, with a sweet scent; flowerhead stalk 20-45 mm long, hairless. Involucral bracts ovate, tips pointed, hairless, purple-pink. Perianth slender, carmine, densely covered with long, shaggy hairs. Style straight, 12-14 mm long, hairless. Pollen presenter 4 mm long, club-shaped. Flowers: September to November.
