Characteristics

A rounded shrub 0.3-0.5 m tall, 0.5 m across. Main stem 10 mm in diameter. Leaves erect, 70-120 mm long, 40-80 mm wide, hairless when mature, dissected, with 15-25 tips with fine points; stalk 20-30 mm long. Flowerhead flat-topped, 40-55 mm long, 60-70 mm across, comprising 15-30 headlets of 20-25 flowers each; flowerhead stalk short. Involucral bracts lanceolate. Perianth white with shiny black, hairless tips, conspicuous while in bud. Style straight, 10 mm long. Pollen presenter 1 mm long, tip forming a knob. Flowers: August to November.
