Erect annual herb up to 1–1.5 m. tall; stems almost glabrous, sometimes sparsely aculeate.. Stipules narrow, spreading, 3–4 mm.,long, caducous.. Leaf-rhachis sparsely pilose, sometimes sparsely aculeate, 4–10 cm. long. Leaflets in 6–21 pairs, glabrous, up to 10 mm. long.. Inflorescence-rhachis 3–5-flowered, up to 7 cm. long including a pilose peduncle 1–2.5 cm. long; pedicels glabrous, 5–10 mm. long.. Calyx glabrous except for the margin; receptacle 1.5 mm., tube 3 mm., teeth 0.7 mm. long.. Blade of standard 10 mm. long, 14 mm. wide; claw 3 mm. long, with cuneate appendages 1.5 mm. long and 0.8 mm. wide on its upper part; blade of wing ± 10 mm. long and 4.5 mm. wide, with a blunt right-angled corner at the base; claw 3 mm. long; blade of keel 7 mm. long, 7 mm. wide near the tip, 3 mm. wide at the base, with a fine straight tooth at an angle of 35°–50° to the 6 mm. long claw.. Filament-sheath 11–12 mm., free parts 3–4 mm., anthers 0.9 mm. long.. Ovary glabrous, 9–14-ovulate; style glabrous, ± 4 mm. long.. Pod straw-coloured, 7–10 cm. long, including a stipe and a beak each 6–8 mm. long, 3–3.5 mm. wide across the seeds, 1.2–1.4 mm. wide between the seeds, 2 mm. thick at the seeds, 1 mm. at the sutures and between the seeds, 7–14-seeded; septa 7 mm. apart..
