Erect herb, up to 3 m. tall; stems glabrous, sometimes sparsely aculeate near the leaf-bases.. Stipules lanceolate, nearly glabrous, caducous; leaf-rhachis up to 20 cm. long, nearly glabrous, sometimes sparsely aculeate; leaflets in up to 30 pairs, up to 22 mm. long and 6 mm. wide, glabrous or nearly so.. Racemes 3–9-flowered, glabrous or with a few hairs when very young; rhachis somewhat aculeate, up to 9 cm. long, including a peduncle of up to 4.5 cm.; pedicels up to 18 mm. long in fruit.. Calyx glabrous, except for the margin; receptacle 1.5 mm. long; calyx-tube 3.5 mm. long; teeth triangular, acute, 1.8 mm. long.. Blade of standard 1.8 cm. long and wide; appendages with free tips ±0.8 mm. wide and 4–5 mm. long; claw 5 mm. long; blade of wing ±19 mm. long and 5 mm. wide, hooked at the base; claw 5 mm. long; blade of keel ± 10 mm. long, 4 mm. wide at the base, 7 mm. near the apex; basal tooth produced into a slender tip ± 2 mm. long and at 30°–70° to the 10 mm. long claw.. Filament-sheath 16–19 mm., free parts 3.5–4.5 mm., anthers 0.8 mm. long.. Ovary glabrous, 25–40-ovulate; style glabrous, 4–5 mm. long.. Pod up to 23 cm. long, including a beak of 8 mm., not torulose, 2.5–3 mm. wide, 2 mm. thick at the sutures, less at the centre, thus appearing almost winged, 25–40-seeded; septa 6–6.5 mm. apart.. Seeds olive-green, not mottled, suboblong, 4 × 2.2 × 1.5 mm.
