Characteristics

Shrub 0.25–1 m high, with branchlets and undersides of leaves invested with a dense, pinkish or rusty woolly-stellate indumentum. Leaves: lamina narrowly elliptic to ovate, (12–) 18–25 (–35) mm long, (3–) 5–8 (–10) mm wide, base obtuse to cordate, margin recurved or revolute, apex obtuse, ±apiculate, surface areolate-rugose above; petiole 3–8 mm long; stipules 1.5–2.5 mm long, caducous. Inflorescences globoid, glabrous, with 10–20 flowers; bracts green-yellow to dull gold or brownish, up to 10–15 mm long and 10–15 mm wide. Pedicels 0–1 mm long. Flowers greenish to dull orange; hypanthium 1.8–2.4 mm diam. Sepals 1.7–3.2 mm long. Stamens 4.4–6 mm long; anthers 0.8–1 mm long. Style 3–5.5 mm long. Fruit 4–5 mm long, reddish brown, obovoid or ellipsoid, acute or obtuse. Seed 1.8–2.4 mm long.
