Characteristics

Herbs perennial, 5--10 cm tall, violet septate hairy throughout. Roots multicrowned. Basal leaves caespitose, linear, (2--) 3--5 cm × 1--1.5 mm, both surfaces white villous; cauline leaves usually 1--3 pairs, smaller, shorter than basal leaves. Flower solitary. Pedicel 1.5--4.5 mm. Calyx campanulate, 1--1.3 cm × 5--7 mm, violet glandular hairy; calyx teeth broadly triangular, ca. 3 mm, ciliate, apex obtuse or acute. Androgynophore short, glabrous. Petals pale red, claws narrowly obovate-cuneate, glabrous; limbs exserted beyond calyx, narrowly obovate, bifid deeply to middle, lobes somewhat band-shaped; coronal scales small, laciniate. Stamens not or slightly exserted; filaments glabrous. Styles 3, 1.5--2 mm. Capsule ovoid. Seeds dark brown, reniform, flattened, ca. 1 mm, keeled. Fl. Aug.
