Characteristics

Shrub to 3 m high; stems finely pubescent.. Leaves sessile, ovate, 30 cm long, 13 cm wide, cuneate and decurrent onto a petioloid base, margins coarsely sinuate-bidentate, apex acuminate, thinly floccose especially on mid-rib above, glabrescent.. Capitula discoid, in lax terminal corymbs; stalks of individual capitula arachnoid; involucre cylindrical, 11.5 mm long, 5–7 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus ± 13, lanceolate, floccose towards the base, 3–4 mm long; phyllaries 13, glabrous, 10.5 mm long.. Ray florets absent; disc florets yellow, corolla 10 mm long, tube glabrous, gradually expanded in upper half, lobes 0.7 mm long.. Mature achenes unknown, but ovary 2 mm long, glabrous; pappus 10 mm long.
