Characteristics

Unarmed, erect shrub or dwarf shrub, up to 1.5 m high, ± glabrous. Leaves ± succulent, ovate to elliptic, up to 70 x 40 mm, margins entire or ± repand, base long cuneate, midrib prominent; petioles up to 20 mm long. Inflorescence sessile, 1-3 flowers on short branches; pedicels up to 25 mm long, nodding in fruit. Calyx campanulate, 6 mm long, hairy outside, lobes oblong, 3 mm long, tips hairy. Corolla stellate, 20 mm in diam., lobes ovate-lanceolate, lilac, violet. Flowering time May-Sept. Fruit globose, 10-15 mm in diam., yellow. Seeds few, compressed.
