Characteristics

Shrub, up to 0.6 m high; stems much branched, grey, velvety. Spines straight. Leaves petiolate; blade ovate, ± 30 x 24 mm, apex acute, base rounded, margins uneven with deep undulations, rarely entire, clothed with yellowish, stellate hairs, upper surface dark green, lower paler; petioles up to 20 mm long. Flowers: in an umbellate, few-flowered, lateral cyme; corolla < 12 mm in diameter, white, mauve; Nov.-Mar. Fruit a red berry, 8-9 mm in diameter.
