Male flowers: sepals 5, valvate, closed in bud; petals 5; disk 5-dissected; stamens 10-15; filaments free; anthers 2-locular; pistillode absent. Female flowers: sepals 5, valvate; petals 5 or absent; disk annular; ovary 3-locular, verrucose, sometimes smooth, pilose; style free, 2-lobed, stigmatic surface plumose-lacerate; ovules 1 per locule. Fruit a capsule, 3-locular. Seeds globose.
