Characteristics

Leaves 1.4–2.8 cm. x 0.5–1.3 mm., linear, acute at the apex, attenuate at the base, densely covered with ± spreading white hairs; stipule-sheath narrow, 2 mm. long with 3–5 setiform pilose fimbriae (2)3–6.5 mm. long.

Corolla blue; tube 4.3 mm. long, funnel-shaped, glabrous both inside and out; lobes 3 x 2.5 mm., triangular, with white hairs at apex and along middle outside.
Erect gregarious ephemeral herb 15–20 cm. tall with simple or sparsely branched ± 4-angled graceful chestnut stems covered with ± spreading white hairs.
Flowers several in a terminal head supported by an involucre of 6–8 bract-like leaves, the apical 3–4 intern odes entirely suppressed.
Calyx tube 1 mm. long, obconic, hairy at the apex; lobes 2, 3–5 mm. long, linear, pilose.
Capsule ellipsoid; valves 2 x 1 mm., transversely rugulose, pilose at the apex.
Style 7.5 mm. long, the stigma 0.35 mm. wide.
Filaments exserted 1.5 mm.
