Characteristics

Leaves 2.5–3.5 cm. x 1.5–3 mm., linear-lanceolate, acute at the apex, sessile, glabrous, the margins thickened and similar to the very evident midrib but other venation not visible; stipule base 2–3 mm. long, densely hairy with 3–5 dark slender pubescent setae up to 7 mm. long.

Corolla colour unknown; tube 1.3 cm. long, cylindric, widened at throat to 2.5 mm., hairy for a short distance at middle inside; lobes 5.5 x 2 mm., oblong-ovate, with few short hairs at apex.
Calyx tube c. 2 mm. long, ellipsoid, glabrous save near limb; limb tube 1 mm. long ± fimbriate; lobes 2, 4 x 0.5 mm., linear-lanceolate, margined with short almost tooth-like stiff hairs.
Perennial herb 10–20 cm. tall with 5-? stems from a slender woody root; stems densely covered with ascending grey hairs giving a rather woolly appearance.
Flowers fairly numerous in compact heads, c. 1.5 cm. diam. (excluding leaves); bracteoles numerous, filamentous, 4–5 mm. long, scarious and ciliolate.
Style exserted 2.5 mm.; stigma biglobose, 0.7 mm. wide; anthers 2 mm. long, the filaments exserted, 2.5 mm.
