Characteristics

Leaves ± subsessile, 1–6 x 0.4–2.7 cm., elliptic to oblong-elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, broadly to narrowly acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, perhaps slightly fleshy in life, glabrous, minutely scabrid on the margins or sometimes finely puberulous beneath and often with rhaphides and resin patches rather evident in dried material; stipule bases c. 2 mm. long, pubescent at apex and with lateral lines of pubescence or sometimes pubescent all over, with c. 7 filiform setae up to 7 mm. long.

Perennial herb with straggling or prostrate stems 15–50 cm. long, woody at the base, glabrous or with sparse pubescence in the longitudinal grooves and two rows of pubescence descending from the outer margins of the stipule bases.
Capsule 3–4.5 x 3–4 mm, subglobose or ovoid, ± faintly wrinkled in dry state and with numerous resin blotches, glabrous or shortly pubescent, the valves finally opening very widely.
Calyx glabrous or pubescent; tube c. 2 mm. long, obconic; limb tube c. 1.2 mm. long; lobes 2–4 x 0.8–1.4 mm., lanceolate, glabrous or with short marginal setae.
Anthers short, curved and medifixed, exserted about 1 mm.; style exserted 2–3 mm., the stigmatic head biglobose 1.2 mm. wide.
Seeds brown, 2.5–3.5 x 1.8 x c. 1.2 mm., ± oblong, minutely rugulose dorsally, shiny, ventrally with broad depression.
Corolla white; tube 3.5–4 mm. long, narrowly funnel-shaped; lobes 3.5 x 1–1.2 mm., lanceolate-elliptic.
Flowers 2–6 at each node, the apparent pedicel becoming short and thick, 2 mm. long in fruit.
