Liane with woody stem, sometimes a rambling shrub; branchlets covered with greyish-brown glabrous bark.. Leaves with glabrous petiole 6–12 cm. long; blade broadly ovate to suborbicular, rounded at base, acuminate at apex, 7–15 cm. long and wide, membranous to papery, discolorous; basal nerves 8–10, palmate.. Male inflorescences of long panicles of cymules up to 50 cm. long, generally arising from the leafless stems, rarely axillary; cymules ± umbel-like, 2–5 cm. long; bracts asymmetric, up to 2.5 cm. long and 1.5 cm. wide; pedicels 1 mm. long.. Male flowers with narrowly obovate and somewhat incurved pubescent sepals 0.9–1.8 mm. long and 0.6–0.8 mm. wide; petals 3, broadly ovate or obtriangular, 0.4–0.6 mm. long and wide; synandrium 6-locular, 0.7–0.9 mm. long.. Female inflorescences probably similar to the male, but shorter.. Female flowers unknown.. Drupes obovate, subtruncate at base, 0.6–1.2 cm. long; endocarp with 4 prickly ribs, the two median ribs broadened at apex; condyle with perforated septum.. Seeds 0.8–1 cm. long.
