Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 2.6 m high; stem subterranean. Leaves lanceolate, up to 180 x 100 mm, undulate, glabrous, abaxial surface bright green, adaxial surface glaucescent, ± acute, base cuneate. Bracts tubular; uppermost one navicular, green with purple edges. Sepals lanceolate, orange-yellow. Petals dark blue, lower two ± 50 mm long, with rounded basal auricles; upper ovate, ± 20 mm long. Stamens with anthers twice as long as filaments. Ovary with exserted style; style branches 3, linear, ± 20 mm long. Flowering time Aug.-June.
