Characteristics

Plants sparsely branched, glabrous or minutely papillose; bearing occasional epicortical roots; internodes terete or slightly compressed. Petiole to 1 cm long, discrete; blade lanceolate, to 8 x 2.5 cm, acute at both ends; midrib evident and running into apex, lateral veins many and inconspicuous. Inflorescence a raceme to 3 cm long, with 3 or 4 pairs of triads and somewhat compressed axis; peduncle 1-1.5 cm long, triad peduncle 0.3-0.7 cm; bract and bracteoles small, triangular, persistent. Flowers not seen. Fruit ellipsoid, 0.8 x 0.4 cm, orange or brownish at maturity, calyculus inconspicuous.
