Characteristics

A shrub, 60 cm high or less. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, in 4 rows, somewhat adpressed, 10 mm long or less, linear or linear-lanceolate, acute, glabrous, the lower surface smooth. Bracteoles similar to the bract, about half as long. Calyx 10 mm long or a little more, white or pale pink, glabrous. Petals 8, slightly longer than the surrounding hairs. FI. chiefly Nov.-Mch. but also at other times.
