Characteristics

Stem erect, simple or sparingly branched, at first pilose, reddish; leaves oblong, obtuse, 6 lin. long, 1 lin. wide, at first densely white-ciliate on the margins and with a terminal tuft of white hairs; flowers in the axils of the upper leaves; bracts 6 lin. long, 1.25 lin. wide, lanceolate, acuminate, densely white-ciliate on the margin; calyx-tube pubescent outside, 10 lin. long, 0.5 lin. diam., cylindrical; lobes lanceolate, acuminate, 1.5 lin. long, 0.5 lin. wide, hairy outside; petals 12, clavate, 1 lin. long, surrounded by hairs of about equal length; anthers oblong, acuminate, 1 lin. long; ovary oblong, 0.5 lin. long, glabrous; style filiform; stigma penicillate.
