A coarse bushy spreading herb up to 200-300 mm tall (possibly taller), flowering when young and probably perennating, stems becoming woody and up to 4 mm in diam., vegetative parts (including calyx) glandular-puberulous, hairs up to c. 0.2 mm long, coarser hairs up to 0.8-1.5 mm long present or not, leafy throughout. Leaves often alternate, sometimes opposite but bases not connate, blade c. 5-32 x 5-30 mm, ovate, abruptly contracted to a petiolar part c. 4-30 mm long (often nearly equalling blade, sometimes up to cone third as long), apex acute to ± obtuse, base cordate-cuneate, margins coarsely toothed, the larger teeth sometimes sparingly denticulate. Flowers either solitary or in 3-flowered cymules in the upper leaf axils, arranged in racemes or loose panicles, inflorescence axis often flexuous. Bracts (as opposed to leaves) present or wanting, if present, a pair not far below the calyx, c. 3.5-7 x 0.6-1 mm, linear-oblong or elliptic-lanceolate. Peduncles and pedicels (lowermost) c. 7-30 mm long. Calyx obscurely bilabiate, tube 0.4-1 mm long, lobes 5.5-7 x 1-1.2 mm, linear-lanceolate. Corolla tube c. 6.6-11 x 1.3-1.8 mm, cylindric, scarcely broadened upwards, limb almost regular, 4.3-10 mm across, posticous lobes 2-3 x 1-1.8 mm, anticous lobe 2-4 x 1-2.5 mm, all oblong or oblong-elliptic, white or very rarely mauve, tube yellow or orange, glandular-puberulous outside, hairs 0.1-0.4 mm long, densely pubescent inside on lower part of lobes and usually down the tube to the point of insertion of the anticous stamens, hairs very few in flowers with very small limb and pale tube, hairs clavate, up to c. 0.5 mm long. Stamens 4, all deeply included, anticous anthers 0.7-1 mm long, posticous anthers 1-1.4 mm long, filaments short (c. 1 mm), glabrous, not decurrent. Stigma 1-1.2 mm long, gelatinous, deeply included. Style 1.2-2.3 mm long. Ovary c. 2 x 1.2-1.5 mm Capsules 5-6.5 x 3 mm, glabrous except for a few glistening glands on the sutures. Seeds c. 0.8 x 0.4-0.5 mm, amber-coloured. From the material available, it is difficult to judge its flowering season; possibly it is any time after rain, as old twigs with decaying capsules may have fresh flowering growth above them.
