Leaves sessile, linear to lanceolate or elliptic, 8-18 x 3-6 mm, base obtuse, apex acute, margins revolute, entire; discolorous, upper surface blackish, stellate-scabrid; lower surface greyish stellate-tomentose. Inflorescence simple; verticillasters 4-6-flowered, in axils of persistent leaf-like bracts. Flowers mauve. Calyx 5-6 mm long at maturity, stellate-pubescent.
