Characteristics

Mostly glabrous, multi-stemmed annual to 40 cm high, monoecious. Stipules triangular, 0.8–2.3 mm long. Stem leaves scale-like. Branchlets to 22 (–30) cm long, ribbed. Branchlet leaves: petiole 0.6–1 mm long; lamina narrowly elliptic or obovate, 6–25 mm long, 2.5–5.3 mm wide, obtuse, thickened and sometimes papillose-serrulate at margins, mucronate, glabrous or papillose, discolorous, abaxially glaucous. Male flowers: fascicles 1–6-flowered; pedicels 0.5–2 mm long; sepals free, incurved, elliptic, 0.6–1 mm long, 0.2–0.3 mm wide, obtuse, green; filaments and connectives connate; androphore 0.3–0.6 mm long; anthers elliptic, 0.2–0.4 mm long. Female flowers: solitary; pedicels 0.2–3 mm long, elongating up to 7 mm in fruit; sepals 6, free, ascending to spreading, elliptic or ovate, 0.8–2 mm long, 0.3–1.2 mm wide, acute, green with white minutely papillose margins; ovary ovoid, glabrous; stigmas free, spreading, notched. Capsule ovoid or subglobose, 4–6.5 mm diam., obtuse, green to brown. Seeds crescentiform, 4–5.2 mm long, 1.6–2 mm wide, sharply colliculate to rugose, cream.
