Characteristics

Plants 60-250 mm high. Corm turbinate with small ridge on pointed base, (7-)10-15 mm diam. Leaves 4 to 8, linear-canaliculate with pale adaxial groove, 60-250 x 0.5-1.5 mm, smooth or ciliolate on margins. Flowers hypocrateriform, pale to deep violet or sometimes white, paler at base ± and strongly marked with yellow or orange in throat; perianth tube narrowly trumpet-shaped, widening in distal 5 mm, 45-70 mm long; tepals oblanceolate or elliptic, (12-)18-28 x 7-10 mm, ± acute or obtuse. Stamens erect; filaments 5-8 mm long, white or yellow; anthers 5-8 mm long, yellow. Style 50-75 mm long, dividing between middle and beyond anthers, branches 4-5 mm long, spathulate-lacerate. Capsules clavate, 15-20 mm long. Seeds angled, ± 1.5 mm diam., brown, testa coarsely reticulate-foveate.
