Characteristics

Plants 40-80 mm high. Corm ellipsoid, 7-12 mm diam. with basal ridge 5-7 mm wide. Leaf solitary, falcate, unifacial and subcylindric distally or apically, bifacial and conduplicate basally with ciliolate margins, 50-120 x 1.5-2.5 mm. Flowers hypocrateriform, pale to deep violet; perianth tube trumpet-shaped, widening in distal 5 mm, 15-20 mm long; tepals obovate, 10-20 x 5-8 mm, subacute. Stamens erect; filaments 5-7 mm long, white; anthers suberect, 3-5 mm long, yellow. Style 20-25 mm long, dividing near middle of anthers, branches 4-5 mm long, spathulate. Capsules clavate or turbinate, 6-10 mm long. Seeds subglobose or angled, ± 1 mm diam., brown, testa colliculate or partly foveolate.

Leaf single or sometimes apparently 2, strongly curved, spreading, 50-120 x 1.5-2.5 mm, lower half with an adaxial, finely ciliate groove, upper half terete. Bracts reaching below the middle or almost to the top of the perianth tube. Flowers 25-35 mm long, the limb 20-40 mm across, rose-lilac to pale violet. Perianth tube 15-20 mm long, widened at the top to 3 mm in diam.; segments obovate-lanceolate, obtuse to subacute, 10-20 x 5-8 mm. Filaments 5-1 mm long, white; anthers 3-5 mm long. Style 20-25 mm, white; stigmas with spathulate tips, reaching above or below the anther tips. Capsule turbinate.
Cormous geophyte, 4-8 cm, corm turbinate. Leaf solitary, terete and fleshy. Flowers lilac to violet, tube 15-20 mm.
