Characteristics

Dioicous, of the same size as J. colorata and resembling it, brown-reddish brown. Stem to 8 cm long, round, generally slightly arched, sparsely branched, with basal stolons, apex decurved. Leaves oppressed to the stem or slightly diverging, front margin longly decurrent, back margin incurved, insertion line almost transverse. Marginal cells 10-16 µ, cells in the middle of the leaf about 18 µ, walls thick, trigones small or absent. Cuticle smooth. Amphigastria lacking or small. Female bracts 2, longer than the leaves, irregularly lacinulate. Perianth longly exserted, obovate, pluriplicate in the distal end, mouth constricted and entire. Spores 18 µ, papillose. Androecia intercalary, monandrous, bracts with an acute dorsal lobule.
