Characteristics

Plants single or forming clonal colonies. Roots triangular in cross-section, appressed to host, bluish to greyish-green, 10–60 × 1.5–2 mm, strongly ridged. Stems c. 1 mm long. Racemes increasing in length as flowering progresses; scape 5–12 mm long, thread-like, glabrous; rachis straight, smooth. Floral bracts porrect, all in 1 plane. Flowers c. 4.5 × 3.5 mm, green to yellowish green, opening 1 or 2 at a time. Sepals and petals somewhat fleshy, joined at base then free and spreading. Dorsal sepal c. 1.5 × 0.9 mm, apex acute. Lateral sepals c. 1.5 × 0.9 mm, apex acute. Petals c. 1.4 × 0.8 mm, ovate. Labellum c. 1.9 × 0.5 mm, boat-shaped, apex acute with an inflexed apical tooth; spur c. 2 mm long, broadly cylindrical, held in line with labellum, glabrous. Capsules c. 12 × 3 mm, with 5 or 6 ridges, round in cross-section.

Environment

A small, easily overlooked species that grows on shrubs and trees in the under storey and upper canopy of open rainforest. It has also been found on mangroves at Cairns and on trees in open paddocks.
