Characteristics

The smooth testa is actually made up of narrowly oblong cells arranged in concentric rings and radiating from the hilum, the outer wall of these cells is very slightly raised in the middle and they are sometimes furnished with very minute pits at the ends of the cells.

Very similar to T. caffrum but leaves more typically linear to narrowly linear-lanceolate and only very rarely lanceolate to oblanceolate and the margins revolute and often finely crisped.
