A tree. It grows 13 m high. The leaves have 4-6 pairs of leaflets. They are small. The flower panicles are in the axils of leaves and near the ends of branches. They are narrowly oval and 10 cm long. The fruit is a berry 2.8 cm long by 2 cm wide. It is orange-yellow. There is one oblong seed. The seed coat is edible. It has a sweet-sour taste like a mango.
