Leaves mostly opposite; petiole 5–15(–30) mm. long; lamina ± coriaceous, green or yellow-green, lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 6–14 cm. long, 1.5–8 cm. wide, generally slightly acuminate at the apex, cuneate to rounded or cordate at the base, glabrous, with 4–8 pairs of lateral curved-ascending nerves, the second pair sometimes stronger and ascending to upper half.. Umbels in axils and crowded at older nodes, (2–)4-flowered, puberulous overall; peduncle 3–5 mm. long; pedicels from slight sockets, 1.5–3 mm. long; bract saucer-shaped, with a small triangular limb, 2–3 mm. long.. Receptacle 1.5–2 mm. long.. Calyx also 1.5–2 mm. long.. Corolla-tube 3.3–3.8 cm. long, puberulous, dull pink to reddish purple, with whitish or greenish spots on upper half, the head of buds grey-green with darker angles and the lobes green inside; bud-heads oblong, angled to narrowly winged, overtopped by an erect or spreading crown of 5 ovate-triangular points 1–2 mm. long, altogether 4–5 mm. long, 2.5–3 mm. in diameter; basal swelling obovoid-ellipsoid, 4–6 mm. long, 3–4 mm. in diameter, with the tube constricted for 3–6 mm. above; lobes 5–6 mm. long, reflexed, transversely corrugated inside, the upper expanded part oblong-elliptic, 3–3.5 mm. long, 1–1.2 mm. wide.. Stamens green; tooth 0.5–0.7 mm. long; anthers 2–2.5 mm. long.. Style green above, with a neck 2–2.5 mm. long; stigma capitate, 0.8 mm. across..
