Characteristics

Leaves c. 5-20 cm long, lobes 4-6, apical lobe small, triangular, other lobes variable, narrowly triangular to linear or laciniate, acute, upper two slightly recurved, others patent or slightly upward pointing, mostly entire, lower sinuses filiform-dentate, petiole green or tinged purplish, not winged. Scapes up to 20 cm long, cobwebby at first, glabrescent. Heads c. 3 cm across when fully expanded. Inner involucral bracts c. 12 mm long, lanceolate, with white membranous margins, outer bracts c. 4-6 x 1.75-2.5 mm, some with a small hump on the back near the tip, reflexed. Ligules yellow, greyish on the back. Style branches blackish, pollen present. Achenes warm brown, 2.5-2.75 mm long, cone 0.75-1 mm, beak 9 mm. Pappus creamy white.
