Leaves c. 5-20 cm long, lobes 3-5, apical lobe triangular, all lobes acute, somewhat recurved, upper margins convex or sometimes straight in the lower lobes, lower lobes sometimes sharply and narrowly toothed, petiole narrowly winged above or not, purplish or not. Scapes up to 20 cm tall, lightly cobwebby at first, glabrescent. Heads c. 4.5 cm across when fully expanded. Inner involucral bracts c. 15 mm long, lanceolate with a narrow white membranous margin, outer bracts c. 9-10 x 2.5-3 mm, reflexed. Ligules yellow, greyish on the back. Style branches yellowish, pollen present. Achenes straw-coloured, (2.5-)3 mm long, cone 0.5 mm, beak 7-8.5 mm. Pappus creamy white. Obligate agamosperm.
Acaulescent perennial herb.
