Characteristics

Leaves mostly 4-6 cm long, lobes 4-6, apical lobe small, broadly triangular or somewhat helmet-shaped, other lobes variable, narrowly triangular to linear, acute to acuminate, slightly recurved, mostly entire, sinuses entire or occasionally with a small acuminate tooth, petiole not winged. Scapes 4-6 cm, scarcely elongating in fruit, a few cobwebby hairs at first, glabrescent. Heads c. 2.5 cm across when fully expanded. Inner involucral bracts c. 10 mm long, outer 4-7 x 1.5-2 mm, reflexed. Ligules yellow, backs greyish. Style branches black, pollen present. Achenes light olive-brown, 2.75-3 mm long, cone 1 mm, beak 7-8 mm. Pappus creamy white.
