Small shrub 1.8–4.5 m. tall; young branches pubescent, older stems squarish, covered with reddish-brown flaking bark.. Leaf-blades mostly drying dull greenish in colour, elliptic or less often narrowly or broadly elliptic, 3–13 cm. long, 1.6–6.4 cm. wide, shortly acuminate at apex, acute to ± rounded at base, somewhat coriaceous, glossy and glabrous above, save for the midrib, pubescent to glabrescent beneath; domatia usually present; petiole 0.4–1.3 cm. long, sparsely to densely pubescent; stipules with a brown corky area surrounding a central blackened area (in dry state), ovate to triangular, 2–4 mm. long, acute or with a linear acumen up to 3 mm. long.. Inflorescences terminal on short leafy lateral branches, 4–14.5 cm. long, sessile; primary inflorescence-branches up to 9 mm. long, densely pubescent; secondary inflorescence-branches very reduced; pedicels up to 1.5 mm. long; bracteoles narrowly triangular..
