Inflorescence terminal on short (1.3–11.5 cm long) lateral leafy branches, sessile, usually with an additional pair of pedunculate inflorescences arising from the node below; primary inflorescence branches 0.3–1.1 cm long, glabrous or occasionally pubescent; pedicels 2–5 mm long, glabrous or occasionally pubescent; bracteoles small, ± numerous, ciliate or sometimes pubescent within.
Corolla white, glabrous outside; tube 2–3.75 mm long, cylindrical, c. 1.5 mm wide at top, sparsely hairy at throat; lobes 3.75–5 × 1.25–2 mm, oblong, obtuse, sometimes sparsely pubescent above.
A climber or scandent shrub 2–10 m tall; young stems glabrous or occasionally pubescent covered with red-brown shiny bark; lateral branches short patent often curving upwards at the tip.
Calyx glabrous or more often puberulous; tube c. 1 mm long; limb 0.75–1.5 mm long, divided ± to half way by oblong to broadly ovate lobes, sometimes apiculate, contorted.
Seeds 2 per fruit, dark red-brown, ± hemispherical 3 mm in diameter with large deep cavity, surface smooth to naked eye.
Fruit 5.5–6 mm in diameter, crowned by persistent calyx limb.
Placenta ± ovate with 1 ovule impressed near the centre.
Flowers fragrant.
