Characteristics

Caudex short-creeping; stipe to 50 cm long, its base swollen and persistent; basal scales thin, to 5 mm long; lamina of type 26 cm long consisting of 3 pairs of pinnae and a deeply lobed deltoid apical portion 15 cm long (its lowest lobes 5.5 x'1.5 cm); basal pinnae 15 cm long (stalk 10 mm), their basal basiscopic pinnules 9 × 2 cm, lobed halfway to the costa, the lobes obtuse, basal acroscopic pinnules 3.5 × 1.4 cm; suprabasal pinnae sessile, deeply lobed, the lobes falcate, obtuse, the larger ones with sinuous margins; hairs 0.2-0.3 mm long present on lower surface of costae and a few very slender ones between veins, many thicker hairs present between veins on upper surface; sori mostly on free veins in outer areoles, marked by depressions on the upper surface when dried; indusia rather large, glabrous.
