Characteristics

Perennial or biennial, foetid, small, soft shrub, up to 0.5 m high; stems little branched, often narrowly winged at decurrent petioles, leafy; most parts of plant oily pubescent. Leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate, serrulate. Flowers as above but cymes 3-5-flowered. Calyx: lobes 5, ± lanceolate. Corolla hairy outside, regular; tube somewhat in-bent, gibbous below; lobes 5, patent, white to light rose-pink with 5 dark purple spots extending down the hirsute throat. Fruit a globose berry. Flowering time Aug., Sept.
