Characteristics

Leaves with (6)8–11 pairs of leaflets; petiole 1–4(7) mm long, petiole and rachis together 5–12 cm long, appressed-pubescent or the lower side glabrescent; leaflets 1–3.2 × 0.5–1 cm, oblong-oblanceolate, rounded to subcuneate at the base, ± truncate and strongly mucronate at the apex; upper surface glabrous, lower surface rather thinly and shortly appressed or irregularly pubescent; stipules 6–10 × 1.5–2.5 mm, narrowly triangular, pubescent.

Flowers in mostly terminal racemes 7–10 cm long, very shortly pedunculate or with the lowermost flower in the axil of the upper leaf; bracts 5–8 × 0.7–1 mm, linear-triangular; pedicels c.3 mm long.
Calyx 4–5 mm long, shortly and rather irregularly pubescent; two upper teeth joined for ¾ length to form an acute triangle.
Stems densely greyish-white or brown appressed-or ascending-pubescent, at least when young.
Pods 50–64 × 4–5 mm, puberulent to very shortly irregularly pubescent, brown.
Petals mauve; standard 15–17 mm long, about equalled by the keel.
A moderately large bush up to 2 m or more high.
Ovary appressed-pubescent; style pubescent.
Stamen tube joined above.
