Small tree up to 10 m. high; bark dark grey, deeply fissured.. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina elliptic or oblong-elliptic or broadly oblanceolate, (13.5–)16–22(–30) cm. long, 4.5–9.5 cm. wide, apex rounded to obtuse or shortly acuminate, base obtuse to cuneate, glabrous or rarely tomentosebeneath; lateral nerves 10–15 pairs; petiole 2.8–3.4 cm. long.. Inflorescences of lateral spikes 9–12.5 cm. long; peduncle 1.7–2.2 cm. long, glabrous to densely tomentose.. Flowers white; lower receptacle glabrous to densely tomentose; upper receptacle glabrous or sparsely pilose at the base.. Fruit yellowish brown, oblong to oblong-elliptic, 5.7–8 cm. long, 2.6–3.5 cm. wide, apex obtuse to rounded, somewhat emarginate; apical peg often present; stipe 1–1.2 cm. long.
