Characteristics

Small tree up to 7 m high or shrub; branchlets appressed-pubescent, glabrescent. Leaves spirally arranged, petiolate; lamina 3-10.5 x 1.5-4.5 cm, chartaceous, obovate to obovate-elliptic, sparsely pubescent or pilose to almost glabrous, apex acuminate, margin slightly crenulate or serrate-crenulate, base cuneate or narrowed; midrib appressed-pubescent beneath; lateral nerves 5-7 pairs, somewhat impressed above, prominent beneath; reticulation impressed above; petiole 1-2.5 cm long. Inflorescences of axillary spikes 7-10 cm long; peduncle 1.5-2 cm long, appressed-pubescent. Flowers white. Lower receptacle tomentose; upper receptacle pubescent at the base, glabrous towards the apex. Sepals deltate. Stamens 3 mm long; anthers 0.5 mm long. Disk barbate. Fruit greenish-yellow, 2.8-4 x 1.8-2.7 cm, broadly elliptic-oblong, minutely pubescent, apex acute to rounded or truncate, base subtruncate, stipe 2-3 mm long.
