Characteristics

Stems c. 350 mm-1 m tall, ± erect, mostly simple or branching from base, occasionally corymbosely branched above, minutely glandular-puberulous, coarse hairs up to 0.3-0.5 mm long as well particularly on upper parts including inflorescence, only occasionally running back down stem in bands below each leaf-base. Primary leaves up to 15-38 x 1-3(4) mm, linear-lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowed to a petiolar part, margins plane or slightly revolute, c. 1-16 tiny teeth on upper part (axillary leaves smaller and sometimes entire), glandular-punctate otherwise glabrous except occasionally a few minute hairs on lower surface at base of midrib. Flowers up to c. 6-14 in each partial inflorescence, loosely arranged. Bracts up to 2-3.2 x 0.4-0.5 mm, glabrous except for a few hairs c. 0.15-0.25 mm long on margins. Pedicels up to c. 0.5-1.2 mm long. Calyx tube 1.4-2 mm long, posticous lobes 0.3-0.5 x 0.3-0.4 mm, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long on margins. Corolla tube 34.5 x 1.2-1.7 mm in throat, limb 34 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1-1.6 x 0.6-1 mm, anticous lobe 1.3-1.8 x 0.7-1 mm, shades of blue and mauve, occasionally a white sport, clavate hairs around mouth or sometimes confined to posticous lip, or wanting. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.5-2.5 mm long, anthers 0.5 mm, anticous filaments 1.7-2.5 mm, anthers 0.5 mm Stigma 1.5-2.2 mm long. Style 2-3 mm Ovary 0.8 x 0.3-0.4 mm Capsules c. 2-2.5 x 1-1.2 mm Seeds c. 0.8 x 0.3-0.4 mm.
