Perennial woody-based herb or subshrub up to 1.2 m tall, densely gland-dotted. Leaves usually densely set, 3-fid or pinnatifid with 5 segments, or leaves sometimes simple on short-shoots in leaf-axils; segments 10-25 x 2-5 mm, oblanceolate, gradually tapering at the base, rounded to slightly; emarginate at the apex, with crenulate margins, flat. Flowers in short terminal cymes; pedicels 3-4 mm long in flower, elongating up to 8 mm in fruit. Sepals 4, 1-2 mm long, broadly ovate to suborbicular, shortly united at the base. Petals 4, reddish, 4-5.5 mm long, ovate-orbicular, entire. Stamens 8, subequal, shorter than petals; filaments glabrous, slightly dilated towards the base; anthers c. 1 mm long, broadly ovate, connective shortly apiculate at the tip; disk annular, crenulate; ovary sessile, with several ovules per locule, 2-lobed, densely glandular; style 2-2.5 mm long, caducous, with narrowly capitate stigma. Capsule c. 11-13 x 6-8 mm, lobed almost halfway with a narrow sinus. Seeds reniform, longest dimension c. 2.5 mm, muricate with spine-like ornamented tubercles up to c. 0.5 mm long.
