Glabrous. Leaves opposite; lamina ovate to broadly ovate, 12-20 by 6-15 cm, cuneate to truncate at the base to a winged petiole 6-16 mm long, acute or obtuse at the apex, slightly lustrous above or dull on both sides; venation pinnate with the midrib distinct above and raised and dark coloured below and the main laterals distinct on both sides. Inflorescences at the nodes, a sessile involucrate capitulum of 12-18 flowers arranged in triads; involucre 15-20 mm long, comprising 4 to 5 pairs of bracts and many lateral bracts which enclose the individual flowers, the longest outer ones elliptic to broadly cuneate, truncate to acute, smooth or keeled; floral axis c. 4 mm long; lateral bracts enclosing the flowers 7-11 mm long, keeled, acute. Corolla in mature bud 6-mereus, 18-2 long, inflated cylindric from just above the base, truncate at the apex pink or red below, yellow or green above; tube in the open flower 5-6 mm long with he lobes reflexed c. 10 mm higher.
