Characteristics

Diffuse low shrublets, up to 30 cm tall, much-branched, stems 2-2.5 mm diam at base, brown or dark brown, with very short spinous hairs when young; leaves alternate, scale-like, 1 mm long, deltoid-ovate, whitish yellow or green, short-ciliate, fascicular leaves in axils of scale-like leaves green, long-oblong, 3-9 mm long, 1.5-2.0 mm wide, apex obtuse and mucronate, base attenuate but sessile. Flowers solitary or paired, terminal on short branches with fascicular leaves; pedicels slender, 4-6 mm long, with very short spinous hairs, llypanthium half-globose, 10-nerved, with very short spinous hairs in lower part, 1 mm long, 1.5 mm diam; calyx-lobes deltoid-subulate, entire, 1 mm long. Corolla light mauve-blue, 15.5 mm long, tube 7.3 mm long, 1.5-2 mm diam, limb 7.2 mm long, corolla lobes linear. Disc annular. Stamens 5, inserted on disc; filaments 6 mm long, lower part slightly dilated, ciliate. Ovary 3-locu-late, superior part slightly conical; style 15.5 mm long; stigma 3-lobed. Capsule globose, 2.5 mm diam, loculici-dally 3-valved; valves 0.8 mm long. Seeds oblong, 1 mm long, 0.5 mm diam; seed coat reticulate.
