Perianth white inside, yellowish-green outside; tube c. 0.5–0.8 mm long, no external glands visible; lobes c. 1.6–2 × 0.7 mm at base, oblong, obtuse, hood c. 0.3–0.6 mm long, margins inflexed, usually somewhat erose, sometimes with a few fimbrils on lower part.
Leaves all reduced to sharply ascending scales, those near bases of stems crowded, c. 2.4 × 1.6 mm, distant upwards, c. 1.5–2 × 0.6–0.8 mm, lanceolate, cuspidate, thick-textured, margins membranous, minutely erose-ciliate.
Bracts c. 6 forming an involucre below the flower, c. 1.5–2 × 0.8–1 mm, broadly lanceolate, cuspidate, thick-textured, margins membranous, minutely erose-ciliate, apices often rufous, whitish with age.
Flowers solitary, sessile at tips of very short (c. 1–5(10) mm at extreme base), scaly brachyblasts arranged in very long slender lax spiciform inflorescences accounting for most of the stem's length.
Stamens inserted at base of perianth lobes; filaments 0.2–0.5 mm long, almost hidden by anthers; anthers 0.4–0.8 mm long.
Style 1.2–2 mm long; stigma reaching apex of hood (well above anthers).
Fruit 2.5 × 2 mm, pallid, strongly ribbed and reticulate.
Pedicels wanting.
